Former Prime Minister Netanyahu has returned to power in Israel. His right-wing Likud party and allies won Tuesday’s parliamentary election. According to the final results declared yesterday, the Likud party has got 32 seats in the one hundred and 20 member parliament and 64 seats for the alliance.
Current Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s party got 24 seats and his alliance 51 seats. This was the fifth parliamentary election in Israel in less than four years. 73-year-old Benjamin Netanyahu has been elected Prime Minister five times in the last 15 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Benjamin Netanyahu on his success in the general election of Israel. Modi said he looked forward to continuing joint efforts to further strengthen the India-Israel strategic partnership. Modi also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid for giving priority to the India-Israel strategic partnership. Modi also tweeted this message in Hebrew.
