Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Germany on Monday in the first leg of his three-nation tour of Europe. On reaching here, Modi tweeted, “Reached Berlin. Today I will speak to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, meet business leaders and address a community event. I am sure that this visit will deepen the friendship between India and Germany.

He said in another tweet, “It was just morning in Berlin, even then many people from the Indian community reached here. It was nice talking to him. India is proud of the proficiency of our community.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will also participate in the meeting.

“I see this IGC as an initiative to negotiate with the new government of Germany, which is taking place within six months of the government’s formation,” the prime minister said. This will help in identifying medium and long term priorities.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address the Indian community in Germany. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this visit will set a blueprint for the future of deepening ties between India and Germany.
