Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the Hindu community in the country has the same rights as they have themselves. He said that the number of mandapas installed in Dhaka during Durga Puja festival is much more than that in West Bengal.
On the occasion of Janmashtmi, Hasina on Thursday interacted with the leaders of the Hindu community and urged people of other religions not to consider themselves a minority. Hasina digitally participated in the programs held at Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka and JM Sen Auditorium in Chattogram.
The Hindu community is the second largest religious community in Bangladesh according to the 2022 census. The Hindu population is about 7.95 per cent in Bangladesh with a population of over 160 million.
