Singapore has granted a 14-day short-term visit pass to former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as he arrived in Singapore on a “private visit” on July 14. Immigration officials gave this information here.
Rajapaksa left the country on July 13 and went to the Maldives and then to Singapore after growing public outcry against his government for not handling Sri Lanka’s economy.
In a statement in response to media queries about Rajapaksa’s visit to Singapore, the Immigration and ICA said he has been given a short-term travel pass on his arrival in Singapore. According to a report in The Straits Times newspaper, Rajapaksa was given a 14-day short-term travel pass upon his arrival here on July 14.
