The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has banned Christmas and New Year celebrations in the national capital in view of rising cases of the new COVID variant Omicron.

In an order issued in this regard, the authority has asked all the District Magistrates and Deputy Commissioners of Police to ensure that no cultural program or other event takes place during Christmas and New Year.

They have also been asked to conduct surveys in their area and identify colonies, pockets and markets where there is a high risk of infection.
