India and Bangladesh mutually decided to fight terrorism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India and Bangladesh will have to jointly fight against terrorist and extremist forces that can attack mutual trust between the two countries.

Modi said this after bilateral talks with the visiting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. During this, Hasina strongly advocated for reaching an early solution regarding Teesta water sharing. “Today we also stressed on cooperation against terrorism and extremism. To keep the spirit of 1971 alive, it is very important that we face such forces together which attack our mutual trust.

India and Bangladesh signed seven agreements after Modi and Hasina’s talks, including one related to water sharing of the Kushiyara river that could benefit regions of southern Assam and the Sylhet region of Bangladesh.
