A complete of 37,02,595 people have recuperated from COVID-19 within the country thus far , with 58 per cent of the recovered cases being reported from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu , Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh , the Centre said on Sunday. The same five states account for 60 per cent of total 9,73,175 active cases within the country. The national recovery rate now stands at 77.88 per cent. The total number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra crossed the 10 lakh-mark with a spike of 24,886 fresh positive cases, and 393 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. On Friday, the state recorded the highest number of positive cases till date. The total number of cases in the state is 10,15,681, including 7,15,023 discharged, 2,71,566 active patients and 28,724 dead, the state health department said. To facilitate students, the Odisha government has made elaborate arrangements like providing free transportation and accommodation for candidates appearing for the NEET examination on Sunday in 83 centres across seven cities in the state.
