India has extended the ban on international flights till July 31 as the nation sets its “Unlock 2” plan rolling to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. The civil aviation regulator DGCA said the ban on all international flights has been extended till July 31 and only cargo and flights approved by the DGCA will be allowed. “However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on select routes by the competent authority on case to case basis,” the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said. The ICMR has selected 12 institutes, including one from Odisha, for clinical trial of the country’s first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, an official said on Thursday. Maharashtra’s daily Covid-19 cases scaled a new record of 6,330 – up from Wednesday’s high of 5,537, with Mumbai’s tally crossing the 80K mark, health officials said here on Wednesday. The number of fatalities in the state were 175, taking the state death toll to 8,178 and total cases zoomed to 186,626 till date, both being the highest in the country. Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan died at a Mumbai hospital early on Friday morning after she suffered a cardiac arrest, her daughter has confirmed. She was 71. Saroj Khan’s condition deteriorated on Thursday night and she breathed her last at 1.52 am on Friday. Saroj Khan was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra due to breathing problems on June 20.
