The sinking ship of Congress is quite visible in Karnataka, as senior Congress leaders are holding hectic parleys in Bengaluru since morning.

The development comes a day after nine Congress MLAs and three from JD(S) submitted their resignation letters at the Speaker’s office.

Senior state Congress leaders including deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, Home Minister MB Patil, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, HK Patil, KC Venugopal and Mallikarjun Kharge have met and discussing strategy in view of the prevailing political situation in the state following the resignation of legislators.

JD(S) MLA from KR Pet, Narayana Gowda, said he decided to resign in the wake of humiliation by women members of H D Deve Gowda’s family.

“They humiliated me time and again and nobody including Gowda came to my help despite repeated requests,” Times of India reported Gowda as saying.

He is camping at a luxury hotehim Mumbai along with nine other rebel MLAs. He also said that Gowda refused to see him of late while listening to his daughters. “Once, when I went to Gowda’s house, I was made to stand in a corner while my opponents in my constituency were offered to share dining table. What it shows?” he added.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge said the party leaders are in constant touch with the rebels and efforts are on to persuade them to withdraw their resignations.
