In New Delhi, a young male patient has been identified as a suspected case of Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox). The patient recently traveled from a country experiencing an Mpox outbreak. He has been isolated in a designated hospital, and his condition is currently stable.
A suspected case of Mpox has been isolated in India. The Ministry of Health has stated that samples from the patient are being tested to confirm the presence of Mpox. According to media reports, the suspected patient has been admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi. Around 20 beds have been reserved in the hospital’s disaster ward for Mpox patients. The government has also set up special wards for Mpox patients at AIIMS, Safdarjung, and RML hospitals in Delhi.
It is important to note that Mpox infections are generally self-limiting, lasting between two to four weeks, and patients usually recover with supportive medical care and management. Transmission of Mpox occurs through prolonged and close contact with an infected individual.
