Amit Shah offered prayers at Shaktipeeth Kamakhya Temple on the top of the Nilachal Hills, on the last day of his three-day visit to the northeast, before leaving for Manipur, where projects are scheduled to begin, a senior official said.

Amit Shah arrived at the temple of the PWD Bungalow Inspection in Amingaon about 10 a.m., followed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the official said.

The home minister, however, entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple with only three “Dolois” or priests, as Sonowal and Sarma waited near its entrance.

He also carried out a “parikrama” (circumambulation) around the temple, the senior official said.
