A US Congressional report says that there are at least 12 terrorist groups in Pakistan that the US has designated as foreign terrorist organizations. According to the latest Congress report on terrorism, there are five groups that carry out terror incidents only in India.
The report released by the US Congressional Research Branch – Terrorists and Other Terrorist Groups in Pakistan states that Pakistan-based groups can be broadly classified into five types.
These include those carrying out incidents globally, Afghanistan-centred, India-centred, Kashmir-centred, domestically and those carrying out communal (anti-Shia) incidents. Major terror groups focused on India include Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Harkat-ul Jihad Islami and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen
