December 6th marks the 28th anniversary of Babri-Masjid demolition. Ayodhya town has been put on high alert.

Bomb disposal and dog squads have been spotted at major thoroughfares.
Meanwhile, Mohd Iqbal Ansari, the lone Muslim litigant in the Ayodhya dispute, has said that he has received a threatening letter.

According to him, the letter writer has asked him to withdraw his claim in the court or else he will be eliminated. Police have increased security at Ansari’s house. Muslims have been marking ‘Black Day’ against the demolition, sending letters to the President and the Prime Minister for rebuilding the 16th century mosque, and demanding punishment for those who razed it. Hindus have been observing ‘Shaurya Day’.

However, after the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya title suit in 2019, members of both the communities have been advised to hold meetings in private places in adherence to coronavirus protocols.

Authorities have asked social networking platforms to scan posts, pictures and videos related to the highly sensitive issue in order to maintain harmony and peace across the country.
