The Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to form a new government in Tripura for the second consecutive term. The Bharatiya Janata Party-IPFT alliance won 32 seats, one more than the majority mark of 31 in the 60-member assembly. As per the results announced by the Election Commission yesterday, the Tipra Motha Party, contesting for the first time, fielded 42 candidates, out of which it won 13 seats.
Tipra Motha Party has become the second-largest party in the House. The Communist Party of India-Marxist won 11 seats while the Congress won three seats. The Left Front, led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist, fielded 47 candidates, leaving 13 seats for the Congress.
The Indigenous Front of Tripura, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party, won the Joliabari seat in South Tripura. In Tripura, Trinamool Congress campaigned smoky but it could not open its account. Bharatiya Janata Party’s top leader Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha along with his cabinet colleague Ratanlal Nath and Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik were victorious.
In a tweet, Dr. Saha thanked the Prime Minister for his guidance. He also said that the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state shows the faith of the people in the development goals of the Prime Minister.
