The Border private security force (BSF) gunned down two terrorists along the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab within the early hours of Thursday, official sources said.
The armed infiltrators were shot dead on the brink of the Attari front around 2:30 am, they said.
The incident took place at Rajatal area of Attari in Amritsar in the early hours after the BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement violating the international border, a BSF official told The Hindu over phone.
“The two intruders from Pakistan were killed at around 2.20 a.m. Dense fog conditions had been prevailing in the area and the intruders, taking advantage of the thick layer of fog, were trying to sneak in. Our troops observed sounds and movement along the fence on the border and challenged the intruders to stop. In self-defence, the BSF troops fired, in which both the intruders were killed,” said the official.
