The campaign for the first phase of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections is in full swing. Voting for this phase, covering 24 assembly constituencies, will take place on the 18th of this month. Top leaders from major political parties are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to attract voters. Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi will address an election rally today in Doda district.

Sunil Sethi, the chief spokesperson for the Jammu & Kashmir BJP, held a press conference in Jammu yesterday. He accused the National Conference and Congress of promoting separatism and terrorism in Kashmir. He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought peace and ensured development in Jammu & Kashmir.

Voting for the second phase will be held on the 25th of this month, and the third phase is scheduled for October 1st. Meanwhile, after the scrutiny of nomination papers for the final phase of the assembly elections yesterday, 449 candidates’ nominations were found valid. The last date for withdrawing candidatures is September 17th.

In Haryana, campaigning is also gaining momentum for the one-phase assembly election. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the party’s campaign in the state today. Voting for the 90-member assembly in Haryana will take place on October 5th. The counting of votes for both the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections will be held on the 8th of next month.
