For the 2025 Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host for the first time since 1996, the ICC on Friday announced the prize money with the winning team getting Rs 19.45 crore and the runner-up Rs 9.72 crore. The two semi-finalists will get Rs 4.86 crore. These amounts are 53 per cent higher than the 2017 edition.
The winning team of each match at the group stage in the tournament will receive Rs 29.54 lakh. The fifth and sixth placed teams in the tournament will be awarded Rs 3.03 crore, and the seventh and eighth placed teams will be awarded Rs 1.21 crore. In addition, an additional amount of Rs 1.08 crore will also be given to each participating team.
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, played between the top eight teams every four years, and the Women’s Champions Trophy will be played in T20 format for the first time in 2027. According to ICC President Jay Shah, the competition represents a pivotal time for cricket and every match is important. Apart from its financial incentives, the competition attracts fans worldwide and enhances the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket.
