Rekha Gupta was elected as the Chief Minister in the BJP Legislature Party meeting held in Delhi on Wednesday evening. She will take oath on February 20. Rekha Gupta, who became an MLA for the first time, defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari from Shalimar Bagh seat by a margin of 29,595 votes. BJP announced the name of the Chief Minister 11 days after the results of the assembly elections were declared.
Swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on February 20 at 12 noon. According to the invitation card issued by the Chief Secretary, guests attending the ceremony must take their seats by 11 am. This invitation will be valid for only one person.
The program of the function will be as follows:
- 11:00 – 12:00 PM: Guest arrival and seating
- 12:10 pm: Arrival of nominated Chief Minister and ministers
- 12:15 pm: Arrival of Lieutenant Governor (LG)
- 12:20 pm: Union Home Minister and other leaders will arrive
- 12:25 pm: Arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- 12:30 pm: National Anthem
- 12:35 pm: Chief Minister will be sworn in by the Lieutenant Governor
Tight security arrangements
Tight security arrangements have been made for the ceremony. Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed. Guests will be allowed entry only after security checks. All preparations have been completed.
