ED summons Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s wife for questioning in PMC bank scam

The Enforcenment Directorate (ED) has given a summons to senior Shiv Sena chief Sanjay Raut’s wife, Varsha, to enter the inquiry into the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank Scam case.

Sources in ED stated to India Today that Varsha Raut was demanded to appear before the Agency on 29 December.

According to details given exclusively by India Today TV, the Rs 50 Lakh transaction between Varsha Raut and the wife of another accused, named Pravin Raut, is in the case under a scanner.

Varsha Raut was summoned in connection with the same case, which is said to be a loan lent from her for the purchase of land.

This, according to sources, is the third summons given to Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha in the PMC bank scam case. She was first summoned on 11 December. She skipped the ear,

Hours after his wife was summoned to the ED, Sanjay Raut posted a mysterious message on Twitter saying, “Aa dekhein zara kismein kitna hai dam jamke rakhna kadam mere saathiya.”

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya referred to the summons sent to Sanjay Raut’s wife and said he should clarify whether there was a financial exchange or a sale on the part of his relatives. “It should be made public,” said Somaiya.

“It’s the double standards of the Sena for when the state acts in Maharashtra it’s transparency and when Central agencies act it’s an act of revenge,” he said.
