In Bihar, voting is underway for the eighth phase of panchayat elections amid tight security. Voting started at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. Elections are being held for 55 blocks of 36 districts including Patna, Buxar, Gopalganj and Vaishali.
These elections, being conducted in 11 phases, are being held for 25 thousand 561 posts including Mukhiya, Sarpanch and Panchayat members. EVMs are being used for the first time in the state for this poll.
Counting of votes will take place on November 26 and 27.
