Final Report on Ahmedabad Plane Crash Expected Within a Month: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Provides Key Update

The investigation into the tragic Air India plane crash that occurred last year at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad has entered its final stage. Speaking to reporters during a summit at GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the final detailed report of the accident is highly likely to be released within the next month. The Minister assured that the investigation, conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), is being carried out with full transparency and involves collaboration with several national and international agencies. Given that this was an international flight (Ahmedabad to London), the report is being meticulously reviewed against international standards to prevent any future technical or human errors.

On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, lost control shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad for London Gatwick and crashed into residential buildings and a hostel complex in Meghani Nagar. The heartbreaking accident claimed 260 lives, including passengers and crew. While preliminary investigations suggested a disruption in the fuel supply to both engines immediately after takeoff, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) recently submitted a technical note to the Ministry suggesting the crash might have been caused by an ‘electrical short circuit’ that automatically triggered a fuel cutoff, rather than pilot error.

The government is currently prioritizing the compensation process and legal assistance for the victims’ families. The Civil Aviation Minister clarified that the final report will include an in-depth analysis of technical aspects, pilot responses, and the aircraft’s maintenance history. Aviation experts believe the report will not only reveal the exact cause of the crash but could also set new global safety standards for Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. The nation and the international aviation community are now awaiting the report to bring closure to a year of speculation and ensure accountability.
