MATHURA / NEW DELHI: The sacred festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with deep devotional fervour across the holy towns of Mathura and Vrindavan, as well as the wider National Capital Region spanning Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. Temples, residential enclaves, and public spaces reverberated with traditional devotional chants and hymns as thousands of devotees gathered to mark the birth of Lord Krishna.

In Mathura and Vrindavan—the birthplace of the deity—large numbers of pilgrims visited iconic pilgrimage sites including the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex, Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON, and Prem Mandir to witness the midnight Maha-Abhishek (ceremonial bath) and special darshan. Civic authorities in Mathura divided the temple towns into dedicated security zones, reinforcing the perimeter with rapid-action units, drone surveillance, and tight traffic controls.

Celebrations across Delhi-NCR were marked by cultural performances, elaborate tableaus, and traditional Krishna Leeladramas, drawing heavy attendance at prominent shrines such as the Birla Mandir, Akshardham, and ISKCON temples in East of Kailash and Punjabi Bagh. Residential housing complexes and local markets hosted cultural competitions with young children dressed as Krishna and Radha, while fasting devotees concluded their day-long austerities with the midnight Maha Aarti.
