Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the victims of Pahalgam attack

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid tribute to the tourists killed in the Pahalgam terror attack at the Srinagar Police Control Room. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha were also present on the occasion.

The bodies of the deceased were brought to the Srinagar Police Control Room on Wednesday morning. After the tribute ceremony, the Home Minister visited GMC Anantnag to meet the injured. He was also scheduled to conduct an aerial survey of the attack site at Baisaran in Pahalgam.

The government has taken special measures to deal with the impact of the terror attack. The Civil Aviation Ministry has arranged four additional flights from Srinagar, two each to Mumbai and Delhi. The ministry is also ensuring that airfares do not go out of control due to the increased demand, especially when the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for the fourth consecutive day.

A special team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday and went to Pahalgam to collect evidence against the terrorists. A massive search operation has been going on to nab the terrorists since soon after the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attack and said that this incident will further strengthen the national resolve to eliminate terrorism from Indian soil.

Normal life in the valley was affected due to the shutdown called by various trade, industrial, political, social and religious organisations. Public transport, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed, due to which traffic on roads and highways was minimal.
