NEW DELHI: Highlighting the country’s social and economic progress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India has successfully lifted 25 crore (250 million) people out of multidimensional poverty over the past 10 to 12 years. He described this achievement as a historic milestone reflecting the success of the nation’s inclusive governance and targeted development model.

The Prime Minister emphasized that welfare programs prioritizing underprivileged communities—including permanent housing initiatives, clean tap water connectivity, free healthcare coverage, sanitation infrastructure, and Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT)—have provided crucial socio-economic support. These targeted interventions have substantially improved the quality of life for low-income households and ensured the fulfillment of basic needs.

Prime Minister Modi noted that India’s progress serves as an inspiring benchmark for global poverty alleviation efforts. He expressed confidence that this newly empowered middle class will act as a driving force in accelerating the country’s journey toward becoming a developed nation, reaffirming the government’s resolve to sustain this development momentum.
