The government today said that no instructions have been given to banks not to load Rs 2,000 notes in Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). In fact, bank ATMs are now dispensing more Rs 500 and Rs 200 notes instead of Rs 2,000. .
In such a situation, it is believed that there is a preparation to remove the 2,000 note gradually. It has been claimed in several reports that SBI has even instructed to remove cassettes containing Rs 2000 notes from all its ATMs. However, there was no confirmation of this news.
According to the annual report of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the total value of ₹500 and ₹2000 denomination banknotes at the end of March 2017 and at the end of March 2022 was ₹9.512 lakh crore and ₹27.057 lakh crore.
