India’s military action against terrorist centers in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir under ‘Operation Sindoor’ has evoked a strong reaction in Pakistan. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called this action a “cowardly attack” and expressed his commitment to retaliate.
“India has launched a cowardly attack on five areas of Pakistan. We have full right to respond to this imposed situation and we are responding decisively. The people of Pakistan are united with their army and our morale is high,” Sharif wrote on the social media platform X.
He also mentioned that the Pakistan military and civilians are aware of how to “deal with the enemy” and will not allow the “success of their nefarious designs”.
India conducted “Operation Sindoor” late Tuesday night, targeting nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Terrorist attacks against India were being planned from these bases located in Bahawalpur, Kotli and Muzaffarabad.
The Indian Defense Ministry has clarified in its official statement that this action was specifically against terrorism and not aimed at harming the military installations of any country. The ministry also stated that restraint and caution were exercised in the operation.
The action was taken in response to the terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, in which 25 Indians and 1 Nepali citizen were killed.
