The nation is celebrating its 76th Independence Day today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Independence Day celebrations by unfurling the national flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort, in New Delhi. Twenty soldiers of the army band played the national anthem during the unfurling of the national flag. Along with the unfurling of the national flag, artillerymen from the Field Battery gave a 21-gun salute.
The Prime Minister said that today the day is being celebrated not only in India, but in every part of the world, the tricolor is being hoisted with pride and respect. The Prime Minister called on Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. BR. He expressed his gratitude to great leaders like Ambedkar and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The Prime Minister saluted the architects of independent India including Jawaharlal Nehru, Ram Manohar Lohia and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Prime Minister said that in Amritkal, the focus will be on Jai Anusandhan, which will take forward the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
