RBI has proposed to allow linking of credit cards with the UPI system. The Reserve Bank has said that this facility will be started for Rupay credit cards first. But before that, necessary reforms will be done in the existing system.
The Reserve Bank said UPI is the most inclusive mode of payment in India with 26 crore users and over five crore merchants. In the month of May 2022 itself, 594 crore 43 lakh deals of about Rs 10 and a half lakh crore were done through UPI.
The Reserve Bank has expressed hope that linking credit cards with UPI will not only make it easier for customers to make payments but will also provide new options.
