A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court in Maharashtra has sent Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut to judicial custody for 14 days. He was produced in the court today by the ED in connection with the Patra Chawl case in Goregaon, Mumbai.
He was in the custody of the Directorate since his arrest on July 31. The Enforcement Directorate did not seek extension of his custody, so the court sent him to judicial custody.
Patra Chawl is a residential building located in the Goregaon West area of Mumbai. There are a total of 682 houses in this building. A redevelopment agreement was signed between MHADA, Guruashish Company and the residents with the approval of the people living here.
It was also promised that 672 houses would be given to the people living in Patra Chawl in the 13-acre building. But in reality the residents felt nothing.
