Team India’s spectacular victory, defeated England by 4 wickets

India defeated England by four wickets in the second ODI at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack to win the three-match series 2-0. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century (119 runs) after a long gap, while Shubman Gill (60 runs) and Shreyas Iyer (44 runs) made important contributions. Axar Patel also played an important role in the team’s victory by scoring an unbeaten 41 runs.

Chasing the target of 304 runs, India won the match by scoring 308/6 in 44.3 overs. Rohit Sharma batted aggressively and completed his half-century in just 30 balls and scored a century in 90 balls with the help of seven sixes and 12 fours. This was the 32nd century of his ODI career and he was declared the “Player of the Match”. Shubman Gill scored 60 runs in 52 balls with the help of nine fours and a six. Together, the two shared a 136-run partnership for the first wicket.

Shreyas Iyer scored 44 runs in the middle order, while Akshar Patel scored an unbeaten 41 runs in the lower order to take the team to the target. Ravindra Jadeja (11 not out) ended the match by hitting a winning four. Among England’s bowlers, Jamie Overton took 2 wickets.

Earlier, England scored 304 runs in 49.5 overs thanks to half-century innings of Joe Root (69 runs) and Ben Duckett (65 runs). Liam Livingstone also added a quick 41 runs. Ravindra Jadeja bowled brilliantly for India and took 3 wickets for 35 runs. Varun Chakraborty also got his first ODI wicket.

England had a good start, but Phil Salt struggled to score runs. Ben Duckett batted aggressively and hit nine fours. Joe Root handled the innings and played effectively against the spinners. However, in the last overs, England lost wickets at regular intervals and the team could add only 74 runs in the last ten overs.

India: 308/6 (Rohit Sharma 119, Shubman Gill 60; Jamie Overton 2-27)
