Folk singer Sharda Sinha, known as the ‘Cuckoo of Bihar,’ passed away at 9:20 PM on Tuesday night. The news of her demise has deeply saddened music lovers and her followers. Her mortal remains were brought to Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday morning to be flown to Patna. It has been decided that her last rites will be conducted on Thursday in Patna. Sharda Sinha was suffering from a serious illness, multiple myeloma. After her condition worsened on Monday, she was placed on a ventilator, where she took her last breath.

Her son Anshuman Sinha stated that this is a very sad time for the family and her fans, especially considering that she breathed her last on the first day of Chhath Puja. Remembering his mother, Anshuman said that Sharda Sinha will always live on in the hearts of the people. The influence of her motherhood was clearly reflected in her songs and her personality. Describing this coincidence as tragic, he said that his mother has left us at an important moment, but her contributions and memories will forever remain alive.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari confirmed that Sharda Sinha’s last rites will be performed with full state honors. He stated that her passing is an irreparable loss, representing a significant crisis for the country’s cultural heritage. Her family has decided that Sharda Sinha’s last rites will be held in Bihar, ensuring that she receives all due honors. Manoj Tiwari mentioned that he has communicated with the Bihar government to ensure that the last rites are conducted with appropriate respect. According to him, this is also a significant personal loss.

Sharda Sinha’s femininity and talent earned her a special place in folk music. This tragic coincidence intensifies the gravity of her passing occurring on the first day of Chhath Puja, which is particularly an important festival in Bihar. The festival of Chhath Puja begins on November 5 with the ‘Nahay-Khay’ ritual, during which her sweet songs are greatly cherished. Her contributions have enhanced the beauty of this festival.
