The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory on the occasion of Republic Day 2025. Restrictions have been ordered on vehicular movement on several arterial roads due to the Republic Day parade to be held on the next day, January 26. The parade will begin at 10:30 am on Sunday from Vijay Chowk and end at the Red Fort.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D.K. Gupta, traffic restrictions will come into effect from 9 pm on Saturday, January 25. Diversions will be in place on the parade route, which stretches from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort. The route of the parade includes Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Road. As part of security arrangements, Kartavya Path will be closed for all vehicles from 5 pm on Saturday till the parade ends.
Besides, traffic restrictions will be in place on major roads like Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road from 10 pm on Saturday. After the parade begins at 10:30 am on Sunday, any kind of vehicular movement will be prohibited on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg.
Citizens travelling on the road are instructed to plan their journey in advance. They are advised to avoid travelling between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm, especially in the areas around the parade route, to avoid any inconvenience.
Through this advisory, Delhi Police has urged citizens to remain alert and plan their travel according to the scheduled time. This initiative has been taken with the aim of ensuring smooth conduct and security of the parade.
