Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha quit the party today amid reports that the party is going to propose his name as the opposition candidate in the presidential election.
In a tweet, Sinha said the time has come to break away from the party for a larger national cause and work for the unity of the opposition. Opposition leaders are scheduled to meet in New Delhi today to decide on the candidate for the presidential election. Earlier last week’s meeting was attended by representatives of 17 parties.
Meanwhile, the BJP Parliamentary Board is also going to meet today, where the name of the candidate for the Presidential election is likely to be finalised. Earlier, BJP President JP Nadda and senior party leader Rajnath Singh were given the responsibility of holding talks with all political parties to decide the name of the Presidential candidate.
