Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has petitioned the Supreme Court for an investigation into charges he made against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Rashmi Shukla’s report, which alleged wrongdoings in transfers and postings, has also been requested by Param Bir Singh to be investigated by the CBI. In addition, Param Bir has asked that CCTV footage of Anil Deshmukh’s Mumbai residence be collected in order to corroborate the allegations he has levelled.

When the case is scheduled for hearing in the Supreme Court, senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi will represent Param Bir Singh.

A stay of removal from his position as Mumbai Police Commissioner has been requested by Pm Bir Singh. On Monday, DG Homeguard in Mumbai, Param Bir Singh, took over.

In his petition, Param Bir Singh requests a “unbiased, uninfluenced, impartial, and equitable inquiry into the different corrupt malpractices of Shri Anil Deshmukh, Hon’ble Home Minister of the Government of Maharashtra, before the evidences are destroyed.”

In the midst of an NIA investigation into the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV discovered parked outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s south Mumbai residence last month, Mumbai police commissioner m Bir Singh was moved last week.

Last week, Param Bir Singh penned an explosive letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, alleging that Anil Deshmukh had instructed arrested cop Sachin Vaze and other police officers to collect Rs 100 crore monthly, including Rs 50 to Rs 60 crore from Mumbai’s bars and hotels.
