Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das has cautioned investors against the risks of digital currency cryptocurrencies. He said that cryptocurrencies are a matter of serious concern from the point of view of economic and financial stability.

Mr Das’s remarks come at a time when there is a growing enthusiasm for cryptocurrencies among Indian investors. After the removal of the ban imposed on it by the Reserve Bank of India by the Supreme Court, people’s enthusiasm for this currency has increased rapidly in India.

The central government is considering bringing a law on cryptocurrencies. The decision will be taken after consultation with industry experts and other stakeholders.
