India’s spectacular start in Olympics, Mirabai Chanu wins first silver medal

India’s Mira Bai Chanu won the country’s first silver medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games by lifting a total of 202 kg in the 49 kg weightlifting category. The gold medal was won by China’s Zhihui How and Indonesia’s Kantika Aysah won the bronze.

Modi congratulated him on winning the silver medal in Tokyo 2020. In a tweet, the Prime Minister wished Mirabai Chanu for her best performance in the future.

Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has also congratulated Meera Bai Chanu on her success.

On the other hand, in tennis, India’s Sumit Nagpal has reached the next round of men’s singles. He defeated Dennis Stomin 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.
