According to the notification, parliamentary elections will be held on November 14. The nomination process will begin on October 4, and nomination papers will be accepted until October 11. The first session of the new parliament is scheduled for November 21, following the elections. All political parties have started preparing for the election. Meanwhile, Harini Amarasuriya has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

She took over from Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and has become Sri Lanka’s first female Prime Minister.
