Umar Khalid, a former member of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Student’s Union (JNUSU) has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the northeast Delhi riots. The violence that went on for 72 hours following widespread protests against CAA/NRC claimed 53 lives and left over 400 people injured. Umar Khalid has been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
