Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the government has decided to withdraw all three agriculture laws. In his address to the nation this morning, Shri Modi announced that these agricultural laws would be repealed in the upcoming session of Parliament. He said that all the three agricultural laws were in the interest of the farmers but the government could not convince a section of the farmers despite all its efforts.
Shri Modi said that whatever he has done for the farmers and whatever he is doing, he is doing it for the country. The Prime Minister said that with the blessings of the people, he left no stone unturned in hard work.
The Prime Minister also announced an important initiative for the agriculture sector. He also announced the formation of a committee to promote zero budget based agriculture, change the cropping pattern according to the changing needs of the country and make the Minimum Support Price-MSP more effective and transparent. The committee will consist of the Central Government, State Governments, farmers, agricultural scientists and agricultural economists.
The Prime Minister said that the government provided seeds to farmers at reasonable rates, provided micro irrigation facilities and provided 22 crore soil health cards.
The Prime Minister said that to improve the condition of the farmers, four pronged measures of seed, insurance, market and savings have been taken. He said that along with good quality seeds, the government has also connected the farmers with facilities like neem coated urea, soil health card and micro irrigation.
