Barely a few days back, a troop build-up of paramilitary forces also raised suspicion of possible terror activity in the state. With this backdrop, the Home Minister may visit Jammu first.

Last week, with the inputs from intelligence agencies of a possible terror attack, the tourists and pilgrims were evacuated leading to lot of speculation among the residents of the valley. Anxious tourists, including some foreigners, crowded the Srinagar airport on Saturday, many without tickets for flights.

Politicians from the opposition speculated that the centre might do away with Article 35A of the Constitution which gives exclusive rights to state’s residents in government jobs and land. Though, Governor Satya Pal Malik said there was no plan to scrap Article 35A.
