Russia claimed to have targeted hundreds of military bases in Ukraine last night. Russia says it destroyed several command posts in Ukraine with missiles fired from the planes. Authorities in the western city of Lviv, which has survived heavy shelling, have confirmed six people were killed in a missile attack.
A statement issued by Russia’s Defense Ministry said it destroyed 16 military installations at different locations in southern and eastern Ukraine. Russia says it launched airstrikes on 108 areas where Ukrainian military gatherings were held, and 315 targets with artillery fire.
Russia’s military is now trying to take full control of the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol to connect the eastern region controlled by pro-Russian separatists to Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.
