BISHKEK: On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders reviewed the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia, holding detailed discussions on strengthening cooperation in energy, defense, trade, connectivity, and economic engagement.
Discussing regional and global security developments, Prime Minister Modi reiterated that India consistently advocates for dialogue and diplomatic engagement to resolve conflicts. He affirmed that India stands firmly in support of all constructive initiatives aimed at restoring peace, stability, and humanitarian security. Both sides agreed to enhance coordination across multilateral forums and shared interests in the Eurasian region.
The discussions also focused on addressing trade imbalances, facilitating national-currency payment frameworks, and expediting development along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). President Putin commended the enduring resilience of bilateral ties, while Prime Minister Modi characterized the historical friendship between both nations as an essential pillar of global stability.
