A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants in the Hakripora area in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
The encounter started when security forces from the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the CRPF and the Army received specific inputs about the presence of militants in the region.
They then cordoned off the village.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed.
The Hakripora encounter comes hours after two militants were killed in an encounter in the Shopian district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Melhura in Zainapora area of Shopian on Monday evening following information about the presence of militants in the area.
The search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire at security forces’ positions.
One militant was killed in the initial exchange of fire between the two sides last evening, while another ultra was shot dead on Tuesday morning.
With this, four militants were killed in two separate encounters in South Kashmir.
