In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister and BJP candidate Pushkar Singh Dhami has won the Champawat assembly by-election with a record margin of 55 thousand 25 votes.
Dhami defeated his Congress rival Nirmala Gahatodi. This by-election was held due to the resignation of BJP MLA Kailash Chandra Gahatodi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have congratulated Dhami for the victory. Chief Minister Dhami also thanked the people of Champawat for this big victory.
In the recently held assembly elections, the BJP created history by winning 47 out of 70 seats in the state for the second time in a row, but Dhami, who led the victory, himself lost to Khatima. To clear the way for Dhami to contest the by-elections, Kailash Gahatodi had resigned from his assembly membership on April 21.
