India and the US will conduct a fortnight military exercise at Auli in Uttarakhand in October this year.
This 18th joint exercise of both the countries will run from 14 to 31 October. Its aim is to increase cooperation and interoperability between the armies of the two countries. The last maneuver took place in Alaska, USA in October last year.
Defense ties between India and the US have further strengthened over the years. In June 2016, the US declared India as its major defense partner. Several important defense and security related agreements have been signed between the two countries in the last few years.
Earlier, the G-7 foreign ministers urged China to refrain from unilaterally altering the current situation by use of force in the region and to resolve differences by peaceful means. There is no change in the G-7 group’s position regarding the situation in China and Taiwan, the statement said. The Foreign Ministers reiterated their commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order, peace and stability in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said it has deployed fighter jets in its airspace to defend against Chinese military aircraft.
