Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Rising India Summit 2025’ held in New Delhi on Tuesday. Highlighting India’s economic progress, he said that India has become the 5th largest economy of the world from the 11th in a short time and is soon moving towards becoming the third largest economy.
He said that despite global challenges, the country has doubled the size of its economy in a decade and now India is emerging before the world as “fast and fearless”.
The Prime Minister mentioned the important decisions taken in the first 100 days of the year 2025, which include zero tax on income up to ₹12 lakh, 10,000 new seats in medical and 6,500 new seats in IITs, 50,000 new Atal Tinkering Labs, Centres of Excellence for AI and Skill Development and 10,000 new PM Research Fellowships.
He mentioned among other achievements the successful testing of semi-cryogenic engine, historic milestone of 100 GW solar capacity, National Critical Minerals Mission, formation of 8th Pay Commission and increase in fertilizer subsidy for farmers.
The Prime Minister described the recently passed Waqf Amendment Bill as an important step towards social justice. He said that this will protect the sacred spirit of Waqf and the rights of poor-Pasmanda Muslims, women and children will be safeguarded.
Finally, he mentioned the WAVES programme under the “Create in India” initiative, which will help Indian artists create content globally and provide opportunities to international artists in India.
