The day after the Delhi police arrested an 18-year-old man named Shoyab Khan on serious charges of impersonation, abduction and forced marriage of an underage child, new details of the case emerged. The case contributes to the already deteriorating condition of ‘Grooming Jihad,’ where sections of extremist Muslims specifically threaten non-Muslim women shielding their own identities.
Shoyab is a resident of Mewat in Rajasthan, as mentioned. He used to be a fan of the girls on Facebook under the nickname of SK Sinha. In July 2019, the accused submitted a friend’s invitation to the 15-year-old suspect. They’re going to talk regularly on Twitter. On October 22 of this year, he flew to Delhi and coerced the underage girl to marry him.
Shoyab kidnapped the woman and took her to Muzaffarpur, Bihar. They remained at his friend’s place for a day before heading to Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s father lodged a report with the Rajouri Garden Police after the girl had vanished.
The police started their investigation and discovered that the name of SK Sinha also emerged in messages after they studied the girl’s call information and social media profiles, including Facebook. On further investigation, the cops found that the account had been established by one Shoyab Khan in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. A police team searched the village of Mewat and discovered that the accused and his family were on the run from the law enforcement officials.
It has come to light that the accused arrived at Faridabad Metro Station on October 26 and boarded a car from Faridabad to Badarpur. He, however, left the survivor in the car and escaped. On the basis of intelligence data obtained by Ali, Khan was apprehended from Badarpur. He’s been booked for kidnap and terrorist conspiracy. The police have told that allegations of rape will be placed on the grounds of the victim’s complaint to the Child Care Commission and the revival of her psychiatric test.
In another such case, a minor victim was lured by one Golu Khan by posing as a Hindu and ultimately forced her to convert to Islam and perform Nikaah with him. He went to the extent of wearing a Tilak and Kalawa in order to make his presence as a Hindu more convincing.
