Two fighter jets of Indian Air Force Sukhoi-30 and Mirage 2000 aircraft crashed in Pahargarh area in Morena, Madhya Pradesh today. Both these aircraft had taken off from the Gwalior airstrip in Madhya Pradesh. Local administration and defense forces are engaged in search and rescue operations. One pilot was killed while two other pilots were injured when they crashed in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district during a routine training operation on Saturday.
The two pilots of the Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft ejected safely, while the pilot of the Mirage-2000 was killed, officials said.
Defense Ministry sources said Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary informed Defense Minister Rajnath Singh about the crash of the two IAF aircraft. Sources said Rajnath is closely monitoring the developments. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted, “The news of the crash of Sukhoi-30 and Mirage-2000 aircraft of the Air Force near Kolaras in Morena is extremely sad.
