Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been declared the leader of the Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party. On Wednesday, BJP’s central observer and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani appointed Fadnavis to this post. BJP’s Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present at this important moment. Fadnavis will take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time on Thursday, which will add another important chapter to his political journey.
In the meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan, there was extensive discussion for the election of the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. In this meeting, BJP MLAs Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar proposed the name of Devendra Fadnavis for the post of leader. This proposal was supported by prominent party MLAs Pankaja Munde, Praveen Darekar, Yogesh Sagar and Ashish Shelar. After this, Central Observer Vijay Rupani officially declared Fadnavis as the leader of the Legislative Party. On this selection, Devendra Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to all the leaders present and pledged to fulfill his responsibilities.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was present at the meeting, highlighted the BJP’s national position and the mandate it has received in the states. She said that the mandate received by the BJP in Maharashtra and Haryana clearly reflects the political direction of the country. “The public wants stability and development, so that the double-engine government can live up to the trust of the people of Maharashtra,” she said. Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned that the new government is committed to compensate for the losses incurred by the Congress governments. Additionally, she assured that the new government will take concrete steps towards making Mumbai the number one city in the country. Her statement clearly reflects the BJP’s comprehensive strategy in schemes and development work at the state level, which will play an important role in ensuring the party’s stability and public support.
