Weeds spread due to rain and floods in Pakistan

So far more than 1100 people have lost their lives due to rain and floods in Pakistan. More than 3 crore 30 lakh people are affected by the floods. The planning minister has claimed that the devastating floods caused damage of about $10 billion according to preliminary estimates.

The government has decided to set up a National Flood Response and Coordination Center to deal with the flood situation and rehabilitate the affected people. Roads, crops, houses, bridges and other infrastructure have been damaged by the torrential rains.

Pakistan received a package of one billion ten million dollars from the International Monetary Fund yesterday. Its aim is to save Pakistan, which is facing financial crisis, from defaulting in debt liabilities.

About 13,000 houses in Balochistan have been either partially or completely damaged. At the same time, Karachi, the largest city of Sindh province, has also been badly affected by the rains and floods and so far at least 70 people have died there. Sharif traveled to the areas most affected by the rains and floods and promised all possible help from federal and provincial governments to the victims, including a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the next of kin of each of the deceased.
